Project Brief
This gut renovation project will reconfigure floor layouts, restore the exterior building envelope, replace the exterior windows, replace the Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing & Life Safety systems, and generally modernize the facility to meet the School of Integrative Plant Science’s Instructional and Research needs in the 21st century.
- The project obtained B&P’s Construction Approval on March 23, 2023.
- FAHS Construction is the General Contractor.
- The 30-month Construction period began on July 5, 2023, and is scheduled for substantial completion in January 2026.
Two-week look ahead
- Demolition of the old west stair has been completed.
- Installation of new utility piping in the tunnel will continue through the next three weeks.
- Installation of Fire Alarm conduit will continue through the next three weeks.
- Removal of lead paint from the beams and columns will continue through the next two weeks.
- Masonry cleaning is ongoing along the west elevation of the building.
- Installation of new partitions has begun on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors.
- Installation of exterior scaffolding (to be used for masonry restoration and exterior window replacement) is expected to continue through the next two weeks.
- Removal of the existing roof ballast via a vacuum truck (a noisy task) has been re-scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday; May 1 and 2.
Upcoming shut-downs
- Chilled Water shutdown has been scheduled for Wednesday, May 8.
- Pre-shutdown coordination meeting for the upcoming domestic water shutdown has been scheduled for Friday, May 3.
