Project Brief
This gut renovation project will reconfigure floor layouts, restore the exterior building envelope, replace the exterior windows, replace the Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing & Life Safety systems, and generally modernize the facility to meet the School of Integrative Plant Science’s Instructional and Research needs in the 21st century.
- The project obtained B&P’s Construction Approval on March 23, 2023.
- FAHS Construction is the General Contractor.
- The 30-month Construction period began on July 5, 2023, and is scheduled for substantial completion in January 2026.
Progress Report
- All major asbestos abatement has now been completed.
- All selective demolition has been completed.
- Mass demolition has been completed on the Ground, 1, 2, 3and 4 floors.
Two-week look ahead
- Installation of new utility piping in the tunnel will continue through the next two weeks.
- Saw cutting and slab removal for the elevator and mechanical chases through 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors to continue through the next two weeks.
- Demolition of concrete at select beams and columns is in progress and will continue through the next 3 weeks.
- Patching of exterior walls is in progress and will continue through the next 3 weeks.
- The filling of trenches left after the removal of the old partitions and the leveling of the existing floors are in progress and will continue through the next two weeks. · Layouts for interior partitions to begin on Feb. 19t.
- Commissioning kick-off scheduled for Feb. 22.
- Work at the ramp leading to the Purple Green-house:
- Work will be coordinated to minimize disruption to teaching and instruction in and around Lab G102
- Installation of a temporary partition to block off the ramp from the corridor on Ground Floor will be done on Friday, March 1.
- Relocation of the soil monolith displays near the work area (Ground Floor near the purple greenhouse ramp) to begin on the week of Feb 19.
- Saw cutting the slab planned for March 4.
- Hauling of the debris to begin on March 5.
Upcoming shut-downs
- No utility shutdowns have been scheduled for the next two weeks.
