Giulia Friso discusses medicinal plants for Cornell podcast

State of the Pod“, a Cornell student-run podcast recently featured SIPS Senior Research Associate/Senior Lecturer Giulia Friso on the subject of ethnobotany in episode 202: Nature’s Prescription.  In the 20 minutes conversation, interviewer Macy Smith and Friso discuss a range of topics from use of plant products as medicine in different cultures, ancient use of hemp for bridge building, and ongoing clinical trials evaluating hallucinogenic plant products to treat depression, addiction, and other disorders.

Friso teaches two courses developed for the Plants and Human Health concentration of the Plant Sciences Major: PLBIO 2100: Medical Ethnobotany, and PLBIO 3100: Medicinal Botany and Drug Discovery. She will also be teaching a summer course on the healing properties of plants to Cornell alumni, the week of July 24th 2020.  Listen to Friso speak about medicinal plants with Pam Shade, the curator of the Cornell Botanic Garden.
