SIPS graduate student Janani Hariharan and staff member Tara Reed were recognized at the 2019 Graduate Diversity & Inclusion Spring Recognition Banquet, held April 30th. Sponsored by the Office of Inclusion and Student Engagement (OISE), the annual banquet celebrates the close of the academic year, present awards, and recognize diverse graduate and professional degree students for their academic, professional, and service related achievements!

Janani Hariharan (PhD student in Soil and Crop Sciences) received an Early Career Exemplary Service Award for her advocacy for students from marginalized backgrounds, leadership within SCS, SIPS, Diversity Preview Weekend, and Graduate Women in Science (GWiS). She has been an outstanding voice advocating for women of color and international students.

Tara Reed received an Unsung Hero Award given to staff who go above and beyond in their support of the success of Cornell students, especially relating to supporting student sense of belonging, well-being, progression and achievement. She was nominated for the important role she has played in expanding the Diversity Preview Weekend and for the support she has given all of us.
