Discovery that Connects

From fundamental insights to better plants, sustainably grown, serving the world

September update from SIPS Director Chris Smart

Dear SIPS Community

Our Fall semester is off to a great start and I have enjoyed the opportunity to meet many of the new undergraduates. It’s also been wonderful to interact with the more than 50 new graduate students in our 5 graduate fields.

New SCS Chair: it was pointed out to me that I never announced that Toni DiTommaso started his three-year term as SCS chair on July 1. Welcome to the SIPS executive team Toni!

Welcome Marius! Please join me in welcoming Marius Weigert to Cornell. Marius is part of AAD, and is housed in SIPS (119 Plant Science). He is focusing on business development and partnerships, and is looking forward to interacting with the entire SIPS community. Please stop by and say hello to Marius.

Renovation update: I will be meeting with Beth Ahner on Tuesday to get an update on the time-frame for renovations. It will not be starting right away, but it will happen.
