Associate Dean for Research at Binghamton joins SIPS as Adjunct Professor

Eric Hoffman, Professor and Associate Dean for Research at Binghamton University’s School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceautical Sciences has been appointed Adjunct Professor in the SIPS Plant Biology Section.

Hoffman is a distinguished scientist with expertise in neurology, molecular genetics and biochemistry, in addition to being an entrepreneur who has developed several drugs now in various stages of FDA approval process. He has helped establish companies in the emerging venture philanthropy space including AGADA BioSciences and ReveraGenBioPharma, of which he is CEO.

Hoffman served on the SIPS TaskForce on Plants and Medicinal Science that suggested a possible new major for students interested in both plants and various aspects of human health. As part of the adjunct appointment process, he presented a seminar in December 2017 on multi-level ‘omics data integration to derive new biological models in the muscular dystrophies.

As an adjunct faculty member in SIPS, Hoffman looks forward to active involvement in graduate student recruitment and mentoring, including serving on graduate student committees in various capacities.  He is also interested in co-teaching or providing guest lectures in any future courses related to plants and medicinal science.
