Since the early 1970’s, the South Central NY Dairy and Field Crops Team has connected farmers and ag service providers with research-based tools and information to strengthen the dairy industry. For more than 30 years, the team has produced a print newsletter to keep farmers informed about current research findings, industry updates, and team events. With a mailing list of more than 700 people, our Dairy Digest newsletter is still going strong.
However, changing times do call for changing measures – in farming systems as in communication tools. To make our work accessible to a broader audience, we are excited to be launching a new South Central NY Dairy & Field Crops blog!
This blog features technical content on all aspects of dairy and field crop production, including herd health, cow comfort, forage quality, facilities, and grazing. It also covers a range of farm business management topics, from record keeping and risk management to leadership and human resources.
In addition to these technical topics, the blog highlights upcoming events, shares success stories, and reports updates on applied research projects led by our team members. We are very pleased to make this content easily searchable using categories and tags on the site. The articles are also readily sharable across a wide range of social media platforms. We invite you to explore this new online collection of articles developed by team members.
If you like what you see, please subscribe! (If you got an email about this post, then we already signed you up.) Anyone with an email address can subscribe to the blog for free. Subscribers will receive an email notification every time a new article is published, about once a week. We invite our subscribers to contact team members and share topics of interest for future posts. You can change your settings and unsubscribe yourself at any time.
Many things have changed in agriculture in the past 30 years. One thing that remains the same is our team’s commitment to advancing Cornell University’s land grant mission by providing research-based information, programs, and technical assistance to dairy and field crops producers. Now we have another tool to share information with farmers and others invested in their success.
