Cornell Club of Maryland – Lunch with Lambs 2024

On what was otherwise a very rainy weekend, the Cornell Club of Maryland lucked out with a dry afternoon and a relatively traffic-free crossing of the Bay Bridge to have “Lunch with Lambs” at Branch Honey Farm. For the second year in a row, Huck ’88 P’25, ‘28 and Allison O’Connor P’25, ‘28 welcomed us back to their stunning, 44-acre property located in the Eastern Shore town of Oxford, MD. Their flock of Katahdin sheep graze the beautiful pastures while the family’s dogs, and occasionally their cat, keep a friendly but watchful eye on the farm.

In addition to wonderful conversation, guests enjoyed a delicious picnic style lunch generously provided by the O’Connors. On our farm tour, we had an up close view of the lambs, hand feeding them or watching our fleecy friends help themselves directly from the bucket!

Our club was thrilled to welcome back Professor Tom Overton ’91 and his wife Katrina ’91.  Professor Overton, who is the Department Chair of Animal Science and the Program Director of PRO-DAIRY, provided us with an update on campus happenings.

Many thanks to CCMD president Jenn Taylor ’99 for organizing the event and to the O’Connor family for turning our Lunch with Lambs into an annual spring tradition!
