EDUCAUSE Learning Lab: ChatGPT in Higher Education

One of the quickest courses lasts only four sessions over about three weeks and is chock full of resources you can fall back on. The readings can be managed in a few hours each session, the homework can be accomplished in 30 minutes or less, and the live sessions include breakout sessions where you discuss and complete assignments with other higher education professionals who are often at the same point in their generative AI journey.

At the end of this course, you will have begun your own Prompt Cookbook, Library, or other document where you can save, find, and reuse the prompts that work best in your environment.

In Microsoft Copilot, try this prompt (it ran, but I’ve marked the issues– my error note below):

Create an image of a video conference call with the headshots replaced by dogs, gerbils, a lion, a monkey, and people dressed up in costumes like D---- V----, W----- W----, and a supreme court justice.

If you get error messages before your prompt runs –or that prevent it from running,– check the phrases and words in your prompt. In this case, I should have avoided terms that are not currently in the public domain. Try describing rather than naming. Watch this space for a future post about training yourself to consider ethics before you write a prompt.
