About

Generative Artificial Intelligence, or generative AI, has spun up a lot of excitement and alarm since its first truly people-friendly (even non-techies!) interfaces appeared at the end of 2022.

I am not a eager adopter of new technology. I don’t talk to my appliances. I use very few apps on my phone and until I replaced my pre-pandemic model, it did not even read QR codes. I only understand four emojis: smiley face, laughing face, thumbs up, and heart. My boss’s boss sent me a flame in a chat and I did not know if I was being fired or she liked what I was doing.

So, creating a library or cookbook of generative AI prompts is a pretty big deal for me. Mostly, I am doing this because I relate to so many of my IT Communications colleagues who were struggling with their daily work load even before generative AI made its appearance. Sometimes, it feels like everyone greets a resource request with “Have you tried AI?”

This prompt library is for all of you. The types of prompts are organized by categories to make your search quick, easy, and accurate. With prompts like the ones I’m sharing with you to try and modify, you can reply, “Yes, I have. Now can I have the funding for XYZ?”

Prompts in this library will have been tested in one these generative AI tools: Microsoft Copilot Enterprise used in Edge and sometimes referred to as Copilot/Bing, Adobe Firefly, and the free version of ChatGPT 3.5 –all of which I use cautiously with anonymized data.

Image Prompt

In Adobe Firefly, load your avatar into the Structure option, choose Art rather than Photo, and use a prompt like this:

Create an oil painting in the style of Manet featuring of a woman in an apron with steaming pot on an old-fashioned wood stove in a log cabin; create motion blur with long exposure

Temporary Library

This blog is destined to last only about two years. By then all my colleagues will have their own prompt libraries and cookbooks and I won’t need to maintain a public site. If you see something you can use, copy and save it in your own space!
