New Physical Sciences Building

“You can’t get there from here” is a common utterance these days in the halls of Baker Laboratory, Clark Hall and Rockefeller Hall.

Construction activities began this fall for a new physical sciences building that will be situated between these buildings in what was the Clark
Hall Plaza. The building is expected to be completed by the fall of 2010 with several floors below ground and multi-story atriums adjoining Baker Laboratory and Clark Hall. During the construction period, all entrances from Baker Laboratory, Clark Hall and Rockefeller Hall onto the plaza have been closed, including the entrance and stairwell in front of the Physical Sciences Library.
Entrance to Clark Hall and the library will be either from the east side of Clark Hall, through Rockefeller Hall or Baker Laboratory.  The breezeway through Clark Hall has also been closed and pedestrians heading across campus are encouraged to use the Class of 1935 walk between Rockefeller Hall and the A.D. White House. Direct disruption to library space will not occur until later in the timeline when construction of the atrium connecting the new building to Clark Hall is underway. To see maps of the area, projected drawings of the atrium and a 3D model of the new building, stop by the library or visit the Physical Sciences Building website,  a 3-year Project to Create State-of-the-Art Facility project: http://info.physciproject.cornell.edu/index.php  We will be keeping our patrons apprised of detours and project updates on our website (http://astech.library.cornell.edu/ast/phys/services/New-PSB.cfm).
