Have you noticed the library computers now have a shortcut to “New Library Catalog Beta” in the Start Menu? What’s this about?
Cornell University Library is developing a new catalog: WorldCat Local. Get a preview of the beta version and try it out for yourself! There are several major differences from our current catalog:
- WorldCat Local not only searches Cornell’s libraries, but thousands of libraries globally (of course you can also restrict your searches to CU only). If a resource is unavailable or checked out at Cornell, the process to request the item from CUL or other libraries has been streamlined.
- Easier to browse and refine search results. Categories are displayed to the left of the results, such as material type, author, language, etc.
- Misspell a search term? It will suggest an alternate search term, i.e. “did you mean …?â€
You can also find a link in the Physical Sciences Library’s Web Resources page.
