From 2000 to 2006, 170,077 samples were tested and 2 PPV-infected trees were identified in Niagara County.  From 2007 to 2010, 616,120 samples were tested and 42 PPV-infected trees were identified in Niagara, Orleans and Wayne Counties.  From 2011-2016, 382,143 samples were tested and a single PPV-infected tree was identified in Ulster County.  It is anticipated that 651,300 samples will be collected throughout New York State, processed and tested from 2017 to 2020 to achieve full eradication in New York.  Nonetheless, extreme vigilance is warranted in the western part of New York State because the PPV monitoring program in Canada ceased several years ago.
