White Rot

Botryosphaeria dothidea causes white rot. Infections can appear in the field during July and August.  Lesions are often irregularly lobed and in advanced stages may appear as ribbons of decay around the fruit surface.  Fruit that decay in the field during hot summer weather have the consistency of applesauce in a bag.  However, when white rot develops under cooler temperatures, the decayed areas remain firmer and symptoms can be very similar to those of black rot.     (2006)
