Cornell to fight for food safety as CDC Center of Excellence
On February 29th, the Cornell Chronicle announced that Cornell University and the New York State Department of Health have been selected as the 6th CDC Integrated Food Safety Center of Excellence. The Center, formed since Fall 2015, will “assist local, state and federal health officials to respond to foodborne disease outbreaks” and is a public health-driven partnership between the university and the state. Martin Wiedmann, Cornell’s Gellert Family Professor in Food Safety, will co-direct the new center.
