NYSHI wins Richard B. Fisher Award

We are proud to announce that the NYS Hemlock Initiative has been awarded the Town of Ithaca’s Richard B. Fisher Environmental Conservation award for 2018! Each year, the Town Conservation Board in Ithaca selects an individual or organization that promotes environmental education and action in the community. We are beyond grateful to be recognized this way and join fifteen other past winners as leaders in Ithaca!

In addition to being named on a plaque in the Ithaca Town Hall lobby, we will also be planting a native tree at a local conservation area. We hope volunteers and supporters in and near Ithaca can join us for this tree planting ceremony in May. We will be posting more details as the date approaches, so stay tuned!

To close out this Hemlock Initiative blog post, we would like to thank the Town of Ithaca’s Conservation Board for this honor. It is a wonderful and humbling experience to be recognized for the research we are undertaking! To browse past winners of the Richard B. Fisher Environmental Conservation award, click here.
