Corn silage harvest is drawing near. The way corn silage is harvested and stored is a single event that affects your operation for the entire next year. Dry Matter dictates when harvest should begin, and is influential to the success of the harvest.
Join the CCE NWNY Dairy, Livestock, and Field Crops Team in Bliss, NY for a Dry-Down Day on September 9th, 2021 from 10:00am to 2:00pm.
- Receive whole plant dry matter and estimated harvest date range
- Take home information on best management practices for 2021 Corn Silage Harvest
- Take advantage of the opportunity to ask your harvest and nutrition questions
- There is no cost for this program, and all are welcome to attend.
Sampling details: All farmers are encouraged to cut three representative corn stalks from each field that they anticipate harvesting for corn silage, and bring them to the location from 10am – 2pm. Corn stalks should be cut the morning of September 9th at the height you plan to set your chopper. If you are unable to bring your stalks during the dry down timeframe, please reach out to Margaret Quaassdorff (585-405-2567) to make a plan before the 9th to get your samples picked up.
