The FARM animal care program is undergoing revision for it’s Version 5.0, which will go into effect on July 1, 2024. They have done surveys and numerous listening sessions looking for farmer and industry feedback, so I hope that you have gotten a chance to voice your opinion to improve the program in meaningful ways. If you are looking for some quick and useful resources to have on hand to guide your current required FARM program annual trainings, we are here to help.
The first five articles, below, were written by regional dairy specialists Lindsay Ferlito, Betsy Hicks and Casey Havekes and approved as continuing education by the FARM program. The last resource listed here on broken tails was created by Donna Walker, Dairy Farmers of America, and graciously shared with us. The NWNY team has translated these resources into Spanish- we hope you find them useful!
- Calf Care, Cuidado de Becerros
- Stockmanship, Manejo de Ganado
- Non-ambulatory, Vacas No Ambulatorias
- Fitness for Transport, Aptitud para el Transporte
- Euthanasia, Eutanasia
- Broken Tails, Colas Rotas
