Public Seminar Requirement

Public Seminar Requirement for M.S., Ph.D. and MPS Candidates

The Field of Natural Resources and the Environment requires M.S. and Ph.D. students to give a public presentation at a location on the Cornell campus in Ithaca within a six-month window prior to or following their B Exam or thesis defense.

MPS degree candidates are not required to give a public presentation, though these students are encouraged to present their work at some point during their graduate studies at a January symposium sponsored by the Graduate Student Association.

M.S. and Ph.D. candidates can give their presentation as part of another seminar series hosted by an academic unit at Cornell other than the Department of Natural Resources and the Environment, though this presentation must be advertised to the DNR community.
