Cambodian, Laotian, and Vietnamese Environmental Graduate Support Fund
Criteria: This fund was established by donors wishing to fund biodiversity and conservation research in Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam. This endowment is limited to graduate students from Cambodia, Laos, or Vietnam who are studying Conservation and Biodiversity in the Department of Natural Resources or another closely collaborative department. There is a preference for students conducting applied research such as, but not limited to, students in the MPS program.
Amount and use of funds: The payout on this endowment is ~$8,000 annually, which is available to award current students. The funds may be used to fund expenses related to a stipend, travel, or to support other aspects of the student’s research.
Application process: The application must include a proposal of how the funds will be used to advance biodiversity and conservation research in Cambodia, Laos, or Vietnam. Interested students should provide the following materials to the Graduate Field Assistant no later than March 31st if applying for summer funding:
1) The student’s CV;
2) A brief description of the student’s research interests and how the funds will be used to advance biodiversity and conservation research in Cambodia, Laos, or Vietnam;
3) Amount of funding requested;
4) Available or prospective funding support for this student;
5) A letter of nomination from the student’s faculty advisor.
Selection process: The Director of Graduate Studies will appoint an ad hoc committee including faculty with expertise working in Southeast Asia and they will submit a recommendation for the award to the Director of Graduate Studies.
Reporting requirements: The funded student is required to submit a report afterwards to demonstrate how funds were spent and also to provide a thank you to the donors. Video or photos of field work are desirable.
