Megan completed her master’s in Soil and Crop Science in the Moore Lab from 2022-2024. Her primary focus was on the Alfalfa–Intermediate Wheatgrass project studying nitrogen rates. Megan currently works with Virginia Cooperative Extension.

Maia joined the lab while pursuing a Master of Science degree in Environmental Sciences with a concentration in Geospatial Sciences at Tennessee State University. Her current work was a trans-boundary research project focusing on the use of black-eyed peas for food and nutritional security while utilizing geospatial techniques.

Martin joined the Moore Lab in August 2022. While completing his one year MPS project, he examined photosystems of various forage species as a basis to understand and promote drought resilience and biomass accumulation in grazing systems.

Jason SchillerJason Schiller

Jason worked in Plant Breeding for 15 years. In the lab, he participated in greenhouse activities such as cultivating alfalfa populations and pollinating them with bumblebees, fieldwork (harvesting trials, driving tractors using various equipment), and lab tasks (NIR).

 

Jenyne LoarcaJenyne Loarca

Dr. Loarca (they/she) was a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Moore Lab for the Cover Crop Breeding Network (CCBN).  Jenyne analyzed data for CCBN’s advanced crimson clover (Trifolium incarnatum) breeding lines. Her analysis identified resilient breeding lines, and begins to explore why they are successful.

 

Corbin Lay Corbin Lay

Corbin worked full time at the Moore Lab as a laboratory technician during winter and spring 2022. He assisted with Hemp trials, the Alfalfa-Intermediate Wheat Grass trials, and setting up a new wet lab in Emerson Hall.

 

Ileana Katzman

Ileana worked in the Moore Lab on her senior honors thesis project, as well as working as a lab assistant. Ileana graduated in 2022 with a Bachelor’s degree in Plant Science.
