- What is Schedule A, and who are Schedule A eligibles?
Schedule A is a hiring authority that may be used to hire a person with an intellectual disability, a severe physical disability, or a psychiatric disability to fill a position for which the person is qualified and able to perform the essential duties of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
- What type of appointment is Schedule A?
This authority allows a Federal agency to hire an individual on an excepted appointment. An individual hired on an excepted appointment may be converted to a career or career-conditional appointment after two years of successfully performing their assigned job duties.
- How do I know if I have a disability which would allow me to be eligible for hiring under Schedule A?
The regulations do not specifically include or exclude particular disabilities. Remember, to determine eligibility, you must submit proof of disability documentation (typically referred to as a Schedule A letter) from your doctor; a licensed medical professional; licensed rehabilitation professional; or any federal, state, District of Columbia, or US territory agency that issues or provides disability benefits.
