Week 2

As my social media internship progresses, I have been dipping my toes further into my role as a social media intern. This week was particularly busy because I attended my first EFNEP meeting and started to schedule interviews with the educators I met. It is my hope that these interviews can provide me with valuable insight as to what I can do with the organization’s social media presence.

During the EFNEP meeting I had the opportunity to interact with educators and gain a deeper understanding of their work, challenges, and success stories. I learned about the various groups they worked with in their areas, from young families to victims of domestic abuse. It made me realize that my understanding of their work was initially very limited. I have managed to schedule a few interviews with three of the educators whose work intrigued me. Collaborating with the educators and understanding their perspectives was invaluable in aligning our social media strategy with their goals. I hope further interviews with them will allow me to gain greater insight into their perspectives.

I also took time this week to review the history of engagement on the AHA’s social media platforms and compared their previous strategies to other accounts on Instagram. I was able to determine that our accounts needed to have a more cohesive sense of style and consistent schedule of posting in order to increase engagement. Furthermore, it seems that reel style content is being pushed more so I would like to see what kind of content I could make using reels.
