With everyone on the internet nowadays, it is incredibly important for businesses to show up earlier in search engines. I was able to look at a few tips that improve a website’s internal rankings for a search engine.

Having specific content is one of the factors that search engines take into account, and having duplicate content on different pages on the same website may confuse the ranking algorithms and end up pitting those pages against each other. Websites can also be punished for numerous things such as keyword stuffing, wrong keywords, and thin content. A good HTML structure for a website will boost its rankings as well as it makes it easier for search engine optimization algorithms to read a website.

It is also important to link the content to social media sites like Twitter and Facebook to increase a website’s hub score. While Google no longer uses PageRank for its search results, it may still use it or something similar internally. In addition, it is still used to track the reputability of a website. Like we learned in class, a website’s hub score will generally increase if it points to other sites with high authority, so it is definitely in one’s favor to link it to heavily traveled sites like Facebook.
