How do Most People Meet their Spouse? https://www.bustle.com/p/where-people-are-actually-meeting-their-partners-today-45616

I want to discuss a topic that even though many of us do not particularly think about every day, it is bound to happen sooner or later. I am talking about marriage. How do most people find their significant other? This answer might surprise a few individuals, but the answer is through mutual friends. Even though with the popularity of social media sites such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, etc. and dating sites, most people still find their spouse through I guess you can say the “old fashion way.”

We all see the commercials on dating sites but are people really on them? According to Bustle, Reportlink, a company that specializes in data collection, claimed that when they spoke with 500 U.S., 81 percent of were not on dating sites. I already mentioned that currently, the number one way to meet your significant other is through friends, but what percent of married couples meet through mutual friends? The answer, according to Bustle is 39 percent.

During the lecture and through our homework, we have discussed the term “Triadic Closure.” Well, what exactly does that mean? For demonstration purposes, I’ll use nodes A, B, and C. If “A” is friends with “B” and with “C,” then “B” and “C” will probably have a link between them because they are both friends with “A.” Meeting your spouse through mutual friends demonstrates the idea of Triadic Closure. So, if you want to get married, look no further than your friends!
