The “search engine” in web 3.0

What exactly can web 3.0 offer since we already have an interactive web 2.0? According to the article, “Implementing Artificial Intelligence in different Web applications specifically search engines should be the next big thing and also one of the features of Web 3.0.” It doesn’t sound like we will experience a huge progress or revolution like the one we had during the transition from web 1.0 to 2.0. However, if we can shorten the time we used to get the information we need from the web, we can be much more efficient.

Compared to what we learned in the class, the new searching method will display sense of intelligence. Either PageRank method or Hubs and Authorities method are based on the keyword searching without understanding. A lot of people believed in web 3.0, we might have a personalized search engine. For example, the result of searching “INFO2040” in my “web 3.0 browser” may not be the same as that in your computer. Also, it will not only understands the keywords we typed in, but also the content on the webpages in order to return better results.

One possibility is that if you have searched for all different kinds of cookies in your “web 3.0 browser”, when you typed in newtons, it may show you the newtons cookie instead of Isaac Newton. Thus, web 3.0 may accelerate how we access information.
