Google News launches fact check label

Nowadays we live in a world in which information is easy to obtained. With the invention of Internet, people no longer need to depend on books or each other for knowledge. Instead one can just open up Google, type in the key words and get the results. However, one huge problem with the easily obtained information online is that the resources sometimes are not so reliable, and one false news story is most likely to be spread in a wide range before it is identified as a “false story.”

Fact check, a new feature recently launched by Google, seems to be a great solution to this rising problem. According to Google, fact check will appear as a label next to news stories in search results, and will “shine a light on its efforts to divide fact from fiction.” Google’s head of news also claimed that it will “help readers find fact checking in large news stories”. Claim review is the technique that Google will be using to decide whether a news story needs fact check. With the U.S presidential election in next month, this new feature of Google comes right in time and hopefully it will actually “shine a light on its efforts to divide fact from fiction.”
