Is the 3D Camera Tipping Point Here? Apple, Intel, Google, Microsoft, Sony

Everyone nowadays has heard of 3D cameras, but no one really knows of anyone that uses them. Surprisingly, there is a good chance that soon they will be more common than you think. Industries are becoming more dependent on 3D camera technology because it is proving to be an essential part of computing. Google, Intel, Apple, Microsoft, and Sony are currently looking into 3D sensor technology. In total, there are about 61 major companies heavily investing in 3D technology. With the great likelihood that the 3D technology market is reaching its tipping point, the market size is estimated to grow to billions of dollars in five years.

Although most industries have not tried out 3D cameras on their own just yet, they are evaluating related industries using this technology and becoming more interested. This is an example of information effects. Based on the fact that the choices made by others can provide indirect information about what they know, industries may decide to use the 3D cameras because they reason that the industries using this technology know some benefits that they don’t. It was also mentioned that the market for 3D technologies is reaching its tipping point. This means that once the market attracts a certain number of customers, the eventual size of the market will greatly increase. This is what is happening in the 3D technology market, with many major companies looking to enter.
