Peer Learning

Welcome to Peer Outreach & Forestry

Peer assisted learning is a term used to describe a group of strategies that involve the active and interactive mediation of learning through other learners who are not professional teachers.  This type of learning is gained through peer outreach and education which typically involves members of a specific group influencing and support members of the same group to maintain positive stewardship behaviors, change risky or detrimental behaviors, and modify norms. Peer educators are thought to be more likely to influence the behaviors of their peers since they are seen as credible and less judgmental role models.
