Trial access: ATLA Historical Monographs Collection
Kizer Walker, the Library’s Director of Collection Development, has arranged for trial access through 17 Dec. 2010 to the American Theological Library Association (ATLA) Historical Monographs Collection.
The collection consists of 29,000 full-text titles focused on religion and theology divided into two series. Series 1 consists of titles from the 13th Century through the 1893 World Parliament of Religions, with the majority of titles from the 19th century. Series 2, from 1894-1923, contains hundreds of volumes describing the evangelical movement and collections of evangelical sermons. The series includes a signi?cant number of titles describing the missionary activities of the period as well as numerous biographies of nineteenth century theologians and sermons addressing the debate between science and religion.
From on-campus, you can use the Series 1 or Series 2 links to take you to the resource. From off-campus, I would recommend that you follow the catalog link to one of the other EBSCOhost databases, then select the ATLA collection. For example, http://resolver.library.cornell.edu/misc/arj5146 allows off-campus to America: History & Life. Once you are in the database, select “Choose Databases” immediately above the first search box. Uncheck America: History and Life, and check either or both of the ATLA databases. You should then be able to run your search against those databases.
Comments on this trial product are most welcome and can be sent to Kizer at kw33 [at] cornell.edu.
