Research Focus
Obesity is one of the leading risk factors for developing breast cancer in women, while concurrently leading to changes within the local microenvironment cells sense. My project involves looking at how these changes, such as increased fibrosis or hyaluronan content, encourage tumorigenesis. These changes are associated with changes in both paracrine signaling pathways and mechanosignaling that I will be investigating with an emphasis on changes to hyaluronan synthesis.
For my undergraduate degree, I attended the University of Utah and received a B.S. in Bioengineering. Outside the lab I tend to spend my time out in nature doing trail runs, hikes, or snowboarding.
