Jacobo Ospina
Meet the audacious music fanatic from Ithaca who’s injecting a healthy dose of snark into the realm of music journalism. With an appetite for diverse sounds, he’s on a mission to roast, dissect, and critique music with a razor-sharp wit. Inside the classroom, he is crafting reviews that blend humor and insight. Beyond academia, he’s often spotted at local gigs, digging through record store crates on a quest to uncover the authentic sounds of music’s past. He aims to be your no-holds-barred guide to the world of tunes, always ready to serve up his unapologetic opinions with a side of irreverence.

aidang
knuckles cracking, right leg bouncing in purple pants setting up a diy concert, listening to a new or vintage album that could be called oblique, maybe writing a new poem. these are only a few of the ways in which you might experience aidan goldberg; the motions with which he tries to find himself. escaped from northern new jersey, never to return (permanently). aidan studies literatures in english at cornell focusing in poetry – he’s not sure what kind yet. he’s unsure of a lot of things. he’s trying to write about music.
Tanum Nelson
Tanum Nelson grew up in Duxbury, Vermont, although she lived in the Netherlands for the first four years of her life. She is an undeclared sophomore in the College of Arts in Sciences, leaning towards majoring in English and minoring in Film. If she is not cozied up on the couch watching movies or reading a book, you can find her on the soccer field as she is a member of the Cornell Women’s Soccer team. From the Women’s Soccer locker room in Bartels Hall to the kitchen of her Townhouse, Tanum is always listening to music whether it be through her earbuds or the speaker that her mother gave her for her nineteenth birthday (which was a game changer). Her musical taste is diverse, but she enjoys jazz, folk music, soul, and classic rock.
Amara Chiedu
If you see Amara on campus, there’s a likelihood she’s tapping her fingers at her sides to match the beat of whatever strange but smooth melody that’s blaring through her Airpods. From discussing the likelihood of success of an up-and-coming new musical artist to speaking on how Black people created and currently dominate every single musical genre, Amara’s the one to chat with. A final year sociology major with a creative writing minor, she aims to write about music in a way that is accessible yet still piques a diverse audience’s interest. Her favorite artists range from Solange to Gum.mp3 and her current obsession is house music (she’s very adamant about telling you it originated in Chicago) and she aspires to learn how to DJ.
Omeed Moini
Hailing from Bellevue, WA, Omeed is a junior majoring in Human Development with minors in music and inequality studies. Omeed plays the trumpet in the Cornell Symphonic Orchestra, but his music taste is far broader than the classical landscape. Unofficially deemed by his exasperated friends as a ‘drain-scholar,’ Omeed listens to rock (new wave, post-rock, prog, etc.), electronica, jazz, and alternative rap. As a classical minimalist connoisseur, Omeed’s first foray into music analysis was with John Adams’ subversive and propelling Chairman Dances. Hoping to further hone his critical ear, Omeed is excited to contribute to Ezra’s Ear and share his contentious opinions!
