Dr. Richard A. Baer, Jr. is professor emeritus of environÂmental ethics at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. He is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Syracuse University (A.B., 1953). He attended Princeton Seminary (B.D., 1957) and Harvard University (Ph.D., 1965). From 1966 to 1973 he was associated with Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana, where teaching in his doctoral field of New Testament led to a growing interest in environmental ethics. He has published widely in the field of religion and the environment and on the subject of values and education.
