Food requirements
We grow these flies on Wheeler-Clayton food. They will not thrive on standard cornmeal food. When creating new vials it is best to mix adults of different ages. We also add paper along the side of the new vial and wet it with several drops of filtered water to maintain a moist environment.
Temperature
18 – 25°C is the range they will grow at. They grow slower at the lower temperatures. Embryo to adult will take 15-20 days depending upon the temperature. It takes several days from eclosion to reproducing adults.
Pupation conditions
Since there is already paper in the vials it is not necessary add anything additional to facilitate pupation.
