The Camp Columbus Design Connect Mock Community Meeting

The Camp Columbus Design Connect Team wants to thank all of our City and Regional Planning (CRP) students and faculty that attended our MOCK community meeting.

Camp Columbus hosted a mock community meeting in Sibley Hall on March 4th to further understand the relationship between client and designer before we hosted an official community meeting in Auburn, NY on March 11th. With a little background information, the attendees were instructed to act as if they were the client. We received excellent feedback and fine tuned our designs, presentation, and meeting format for the real deal. Thanks again CRP!

Community Meeting for Camp Columbus Design Connect Team

On Wednesday, March 11th, the Camp Columbus Design Connect team hosted a community meeting in Auburn, NY. Mozaic staff, Camp Columbus staff, neighbors, and campers were all in attendance. An initial presentation set the ground rules of the meeting, introduced the Design Connect team with the present community members, and described our work to date.
Common areas of interest emerged from the design connect team after our initial site visit with Camp Columbus and Mozaic staff: A sensory trail, a new playground, a multi-functional storage use system, an entranceway, building layout reconsideration, and a wedding venue. Based on the site analysis and camp needs, designs were crafted.
Once the presentation commenced, the community meeting acted in an open house style format where attendees could move freely around the room to various stations to see these initial designs while enjoying refreshments. Thank you so much to everyone in attendance at our Camp Columbus community meeting. The feedback received guided us tremendously and we are now in our final stages of design.   

Design Connect Request for Applications

Design Connect is looking for project applications from partner organizations for Fall 2020! We have extended the application deadline to April 14th.

Are you a town official, non-profit organizer, or engaged community member? Are you looking for assistance with planning and design work in your community? Are you interested in working with students? If so, Design Connect may be the perfect partner for you!

The application for Fall 2020  projects is now OPEN. Applications are due April  14th. If you are considering a proposal for Fall 2020, please feel free to review the Request For Proposal and application below.

Once applications are received, they will be reviewed by the Design Connect Board. For Fall 2020 proposals, applicants will be notified by the middle of April regarding next steps. Top applicants will be asked to join us for an interview and coordinate a site visit. Final project selections will be made by early May.

Mid-Semester Review 2019

Please join us for Design Connect’s Mid-Semester Review on Tuesday, October 22, at 6pm, in East Sibley Room 157.

Teams will be presenting on their work in Amsterdam, Brighton, and Montezuma, NY.

Final Review
