Welcome

The Cazer lab at Cornell University, in partnership with Tompkins County Public Health department and Cayuga Health System, is conducting community surveillance for COVID-19. Surveys will be administered over the course of two or three select weekends in 2022. The purpose of this surveillance is to look at the overall infection rates county-wide, as well as the immune response to a natural infection or to COVID-19 vaccinations. Individuals from randomly selected households in the community will be tested to identify current infections with SARS-CoV-2 virus, measure antibody responses to natural infections or vaccine administration, and they will be asked about their COVID-19 knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors. Local municipalities may use this information to guide their COVID-19 response, including recommendations for social distancing, mask wearing, school and business activities, or for the planning of vaccination booster administration to community members. De-identified, aggregated data on the prevalence of infection and immunity will be made publicly available on this page.
