Jordan Craig, Executive Director of Spay Neuter Network, spoke during the weekly Maddie’s® Fund Community Conversation national Zoom call. Craig spoke to the history of Spay Neuter Network since it was founded in Texas in 2004. To date, this organization has already completed 300,000+ spay and neuter services and 400,000+ vaccinations.
“Spay Neuter Network’s mission is to eliminate pet overpopulation through spay/neuter, while empowering communities to care responsibly for dogs and cats.
There are an estimated 350,000 stray animals in North Texas. Overpopulation places a strain on our shelters and communities. By offering free or low-cost spay/neuter, and by empowering our communities to care responsibly for their pets, we can be the pet health experts for animals and owners who need us the most.”
Mobile clinics provide many of the low-cost veterinary services across Texas. Primarily, you can find Spay Neuter Network in Crandall, Dallas, and Forth Worth, Texas. These clinics are strategically located where there is no competition and where veterinary resources are severely lacking. Free and low-cost surgery is made possible through a foundation of collaboration and partnership-based relationships with each community.
Through their transport program, they’ve completed 7,000 transports annually, across 15 counties and 35 cities.
Spay Neuter Network also provides services for community cats and offers a pet support and rescue center, partnering with Dallas Animal Services and local rescues. The pet support and rescue line strives to keep pets with their families, provides re-homing advice and connects community members with a local rescue if needed.
