Having returned to Rome from our Northern field trip and drowned in work from our studio courses for which we have been given no time or energy to work on during or before the trip, we were quite delighted to later in the week have some more inspiration brought to us directly to the palazzo in the form of a lecture by the Langarita-Navarro studio. Their practice based in Spain and concerned mainly with structures that have both a “bust and pelt” as they themselves put it, was an interesting approach to architecture with many historical precedents. Perhaps another inspiration to include in the design of our projects for this semester: a thermal bath located not far from the ruins of the Baths of Caracalla.
