Interested in getting involved with the ACS?
Committees
Our local section has lots of opportunities to get involved. Joining a committee provides great leadership experience, and may allow you to help advance areas of Chemistry you are most passionate about. We’re busy rejuvenating and reinventing our section, so opportunity is everywhere! Committee membership is even available to Student Members of the ACS. We’d particularly like to get the following committees up and running:
- Activities Committee
- Help to design new activities to drive engagement and education in our area
- Awards Committee
- Help determine scientists in the local area, from high school students to professionals, who are deserving of extra recognition
- Chemistry Olympiad
- Help coordinate the national chemistry Olympiad effort for high school students
- Membership
- Help devise ways to get more people to join the ACS, and to retain those who’ve already joined
- Nominations
- Help to identify ACS members who would help our local section serve the community by joining the executive committee in coming years
Outreach Efforts
Do you have an interest in outreach? In helping your community to understand and appreciate the many ways in which chemistry impacts their lives? We’d love to work with you to plan events which fit your goals and our mission. There’s no need to be an ACS member (though we certainly encourage you to join!), feel free to reach out to us with your ideas, and we’ll see what we can make happen.
Leadership
Are you interested in taking a role in leading the Cornell section? We have elections every year, check our elections page for details of which roles will be available in the coming election cycle!
