Great quote

From the eminent scientist Charles Weissmann writing about Reed Wickner‘s designation of the [URE3] element as a prion.

This is a great quote becuase it shows just how much clarity studies on yeast and other model systems can bring to our understanding of biology, and just how much this impact has been appreciated by those at the forefront of biomedicine.

Reed Wickner‘s single author Science paper, which can be accessed here, is a master class of succintness and elegance in experimentation, brilliant sagacity and elegant writing. It is one of the top candidates for my favorite paper of all time.
