My 2022 CCE Internship

Hello and welcome to my summer blog!

My name is Jane (Yuqing) Guo. I am a rising junior studying Human Development in the College of Human Ecology with a minor in Information Science. I am interested in youth development, learning, and well-being, and I enjoy volunteering and community service.

This summer, I am excited to work with Professor Laura Tach, Anna Steinkraus, and Mandy Beem-Miller at CCE Tompkins County on developing a 2Gen curriculum for families with 6-10 years old children. A two-generation (2Gen) approach empowers families by strengthening the bond between caregiver and child and promoting a healthy environment for positive child development. Our work will be based on PSWS (Parenting Skills Workshop Series), a curriculum oriented towards parents/caregivers, and PS: It Works! Youth and Family Curriculum, a curriculum oriented toward children/youth. I am looking forward to adapting the curricula into a new 2Gen version that engages both parent/caregiver and child, and I hope that my work will help make a difference in the participating families.

On this blog, you will find everything about my work and experiences in the Two-Generation Program: PS: It Works! I will share my progress, thoughts, troubles, and/or highlights every week along my journey. Hope you enjoy reading them!
