Over 150 people attended the 2022 Silvopasture Showcase Tour on September 15th and 16th.
Participants visited several farms over the course of two days and learned how silvopasturing–the deliberate integration of trees and grazing livestock operations on the same land–is being successfully utilized throughout the Finger Lakes region.
Program highlights included the pros and cons of multi-species grazing in silvopastures; the impacts of site quality on forage production; planning and implementing silvopastures from scratch, and other details. The tour ended with a lively question and answer session followed by live music, brick oven pizza, cider, and switchel at the Finger Lakes Cider House.
