Hi everyone,
I can’t believe I am already wrapping up my project. Working with both the CCE of Rockland County and the Rockland Council on Alcoholism and Other Drug Dependence youth camps has been such an amazing experience, and one that I will never forget. I am quite proud of how all of my activities came out, and at the beginning of this summer I really couldn’t have imagined how well everything would come together. I’m extremely excited for my activities to be used by other educational groups, both within and outside of Cornell, in the future, and I hope that they can continue to disseminate knowledge about textiles and facemarks in a fun and engaging way.
This week, I primarily went in depth through the responses to each activity, and used them both to gage interest and fine-tune the activity sheets. Overall, it seemed as though the students enjoyed them, with only the Human Loom receiving an average score of below 4 out of 5 on interest level. This was also the first activity run, and it did not have many response forms filled out, both of which may have contributed to this ranking. There was also a clear indication, both in responses and from what I observed, that the students enjoyed the more hands on and informal activities, which was expected.
I also spent a good part of this week summarizing my project as a whole in preparation for the poster presentation in late September. I am very excited to share my process and results, as well as to see some of the amazing projects other students in the CCE internship program have participated in.
Thank you for keeping up with my progress and reading through my updates. I hope you were able to get something out of them.
