Week Three

This week, I mainly focused on the administrative aspects of my project. A major portion of this was creating a list of all of the materials that each activity would need and getting them. This process also helped me to solidify how each activity would be performed. Additionally, I have begun to reach out to local camps in the area, with the help of the Rockland extension’s staff. We hope to give these activities in about 4 camps in order to get a large sampling of students.

I have drafted feedback questions for the children to answer at the end of each activity. I will use their responses to make sure that they are both enjoying the activities and learning from them. Based on these forms I will also be able to adapt each activity as needed.

I also created an instruction sheet for each activity. They include the materials that are needed, procedures for each part of the activity, helpful explanations which can be given to the students, and some useful visual aids when needed.

The ultimate goal for this project is to have a comprehensive module of activities which can be used for years to come. I think the work I have put in this week, while not all that exciting, has be indispensable to this. I have gathered some volunteers to test out the activities with next week, and I am quite excited to roll them out. Stay tuned!
