I spent my first week as an Agriculture in the City intern getting to know the locations of the community farms we will be working with this summer. Becoming familiar with not only the farms, crop layouts, seasonal harvests, and community culture is proving to be equally as important as getting to know the individuals who make these spaces possible. I have already learned so much about the virtual reality technology and precision with photogrammetry required for our ongoing work with the Red Hook Community Farm in Brooklyn. Even after an entire week I remain fascinated by the prolific presence of these farms in such an urban setting and am sure that my understanding of their importance within their communities will only continue to grow over time. I am thrilled to take on this comming week!
