Week 4

I spent the majority of this week writing and editing an article for the summer newsletter. I created a template for the newsletter and have spent the majority of this week sourcing media to include in the newsletter. Then, I wrote an article for the newsletter, which is about the ways that ordinary people can make a difference in climate activism. This article is a combination of insights I have gained from my Environment and Sustainability classes at Cornell as well as the knowledge and experience I have gained from interacting with Climate Stewards and other local volunteers and activists.

I am excited to see the progress of the newsletter, and I am excited to have a final product to show at the end of the summer. I also attended a meeting for the food insecurity program, and have been working on creating an informational one-pager about the program which will be handed out at canvassing events for the program.

My third task this week was meeting with Climate Steward Volunteers in Monroe County. My main role this summer is to provide support with their projects, so I am meeting with them now to learn about their goals for this program and the ways that I can best help them achieve those goals.

I also joined the DEI team for CCE Monroe. I will be working with this team to create a survey which will be released at the end of the summer to gauge the fulfillment of the core values of this organization. The goal of this survey is to connect with the people who participate in CCE Monroe programming and support, and to find the areas in which CCE Monroe can improve its DEI outreach, and where the organization is already meeting community needs.
