Welcome back to another blog post! For this week, I worked on recruiting adolescents for our study! With the 4-H Career Explorations conference occurring at Cornell, it was a perfect opportunity to get some adolescents from the community involved with our project. At RPCC, while groups were checking in for the program, another lab member and I were able to talk with them about our study and send out emails to interested individuals. It was a new experience for me to try and recruit participants in person! I had to learn how to best pitch our study within a short period of time so as to not lose interest or inundate them with too many details. As some participants were there for programs unrelated to science, it was also important to cater to an audience that was either not interested or aware of the kinds of studies they could still be involved in. However, I thought it was fairly successful as we were still able to get around 20 emails. Hopefully, this translates to actual responses! This week, I also worked on some data analysis with descriptives for the gist pilot study. Looking at how memory performance differs, especially in relation to the different forms of presentation, was interesting and relevant in helping determine effective means of communication to encourage healthy decisions. Check in next week for new updates!
