GBL Week 2: 4H Exploration Days Reflection

Hi everyone! This week I had the incredible opportunity to participate in the 4-H Exploration Days alongside Sarah Hess. During these exploration days, I was able to connect with students from all corners of New York. It was truly a meaningful experience to share my passion for gardening and engage these enthusiastic young minds in a hands-on activity.

One highlight of the week was meeting Cameron Burke, the Association’s Team Leader of Local Foods and Nutrition Programs for CCE at Herkimer County. Our conversation was incredibly insightful and left me with valuable ideas on developing sustainable educational programs within communities. Cameron emphasized the importance of observational learning that is peer-based and hands-on.

Additionally, I’m excited to share that I’ve been working on materials for our social media page, @Building_Healthy_Habits_BHH. I’m looking forward to posting gardening tips, activities, and updates on our initiatives there. It’s a fantastic platform to extend our reach and inspire more people to cultivate healthy habits through gardening.

Energized by the relationships formed during 4-H Exploration Days and the valuable lessons from Cameron Burke on peer-centered, experiential learning, I am looking forward to developing materials for @Building_Healthy_Habits_BHH and to share gardening tips and activities, aiming to inspire others to start their own gardens!
