Week 9

Welcome to another blog post! This week, I ran and analyzed ANOVAs, also known as analysis of variance, for my data. The ANOVAs are a different kind of analysis than the descriptives and correlations that I have been doing thus far. It was very informative, not only in terms of making sense of our results, but also in learning the statistics behind the output. Previously, I hadn’t understood what some of the output meant because it didn’t seem significant, but I saw that sphericity was violated in some cases, meaning that the corrections like Greenhouse-Geisser and Huynh Feldt were relevant. I learned what sphericity was and what is considered a violation of it. Using that information, I knew I had to look at the corrections to better determine whether there was a significance or not. In addition to sphericity, I discovered what partial eta squared means for effect sizes. This has provided me with a deeper understanding and interpretation of the analyses that I did not do before. I’m looking forward to running more ANOVAs and seeing what I find. Check back in next week for the final update!
