Faculty and staff from the College of Agriculture (CALS) and the College of Human Ecology (CHE) along with extension educators from Cornell Cooperative Extension local offices engage undergraduates in extension projects in New York state communities. While Extension Administration and the CCE Summer Internship Planning team initiate recruiting efforts, we look to our campus partners (faculty, mentors, extension associates, etc.) to assist in recruitment efforts by connecting with students and fellow department colleagues.
Recruitment timeline:
January 2025 | Program application process is launched and begins accepting student submissions
March 1, 2025 | Program application process is closed and project teams review applicant submissions for the interview process
April 1, 2025 | Final candidates are selected and unsuccessful applicants are notified

What does Extension Administration do?
- Prepare and post summer projects on the CCE Internship website
- Prepare and post summer projects on the Experience Cornell website
- Email announcement distributed to CALS and CHE Career Services, Department contacts, etc.
How you (faculty/mentors ) can help:
- Communicate with your students about your current project and the internship program in a class and provide them with a link to the application page
- Encourage students you are interested in working with to apply
- Ask your department to send info to your department’s students
- Connect with the Internship Planning team if you have questions or concerns
